Please excuse the dust, we’re currently UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Colletta & Co. is a nomadic family of four who have been traveling the continental United States in their fully remodeled 1979 Airstream Sovereign, named Colletta, since December 2020. Our Airstream is towed by Frank, our blue 2019 Ford F-150. Our family consists of James and Carol, the parents, and our children Calvin and Amelia.

Our journey began when we decided to take a break from our conventional lifestyle and embark on a new adventure. James was burnt out from 6 years of long days and late nights as a banker, and Carol was interested in the concepts of minimalism and tiny living. Together, we came up with the idea to remodel an Airstream and travel the country as a family.

We’ve been nomads ever since, covering over 22,000 miles and 93 stops in 35 states as of Jan 2023 (not counting Hawaii, since Colletta can’t come when we go each year for military duty ☹). We’ve made memories and visited many parks, collecting Junior Ranger badges along the way. Some of our favorite travel memories include staying at Disney World Fort Wilderness, living on the beach all over the country, and boondocking in Joshua Tree National Park. We also paused in New York City for 11 months to give Calvin a chance to experience public school at PS-87, Carol the chance to live her dream of living in the Big Apple, and James to experience office life again “after” the pandemic.

Our Airstream is packed with resources, making it possible for us to live off-grid for over a week. It has over 1100W of solar panels, 800Ah of batteries and a composting toilet, maximizing our fresh and gray water tanks at around 45 gallons each. We also have a generator gifted by James’ father which allows us to extend our off-grid capabilities even further.

We’ve designed the Airstream to be the perfect space for our family, with a large galley kitchen, washer/dryer combo, full-size shower, and bunk beds in the kids’ room. The kitchen table even converts to a huge master bed, perfect for Friday pizza movie nights. Our focus was on functionality and maximizing storage to keep our clothes and wares tidy and out of sight.

Our travels have allowed us to spend more quality time together and reconnect as a family. We’ve also been able to see more family and friends than we ever did when we were stationary. We’ve realized that the key to our happiness is to live life on our own terms, to slow down and enjoy the journey, and not to worry about the destination.

We hope that our story inspires others to think about the possibilities of traveling and living life differently. We are excited to share our adventures and experiences with you through our website and social media channels. We’ll be sharing our travel itinerary, tips, and recommendations for traveling with a family and living full-time in an RV. Join us on this journey, and let’s make memories together.
